About
Tenshinkai

Westminster Tenshinkai Aikido Dojo is the headquarters of the Aikido Tenshinkai Federation. The Aikido Tenshinkai Federation originated from Vietnam, and recognized by the Aikido World Headquarters in Japan. The name Tenshinkai was given by O'Sensei Morihei Ueshiba in 1968. Ten means Heaven, Shin means Heart, and Kai means Organization. Putting them together gives Tenshinkai the meaning of the Organization of Heavenly Hearts.

O' Sensei

Morihei Ueshiba, commonly known as O' Sensei, was the founder of Aikido. Born in 1883 in Japan, he was a martial artist and philosopher who developed Aikido as a way to promote peace and harmony. O' Sensei's teachings emphasized the importance of blending with an opponent's energy rather than opposing it, making Aikido a unique and effective martial art. His legacy continues to inspire practitioners around the world, and his philosophy of non-violence and compassion remains central to Aikido practice today.
